Magazine cover learner response

1) Add your finished magazine cover as a JPEG image.

2) Type up your feedback from your teacher. If you've received this by email, you can copy and paste it across - WWW and EBIs. You don't need to include a mark or grade if you don't want to.

WWW: I really like what you’ve done with your finished product. The placement of the cover lines and consistent use of colour scheme of your font/typography is strong and this reinforces the Glamour brand identity too. The camera shot and lighting are also good examples of applying media language to communicate meaning to your product. However, you did not create this product using Photoshop and in short you would not be able to do this for your actual coursework.

EBI: The main lesson to take from this production work is the lack of pre-planning production and evaluation. You will be restricted with marks for the actual coursework if you fail to complete pre-planning and evaluation. The lack of work here is an issue and this should be a reminder that all work needs to be completed to a high-standard. There are also elements missing on your cover such as the website to reinforce brand identity. This is an example of poor planning and research which should demonstrate that you truly understand the product you are creating. This ultimately was an opportunity for you to get to grips with Photoshop to prepare you for your actual coursework production

3) Consider your mark against the mark scheme above. What are the strengths of your production based on the the mark scheme? Think about magazine cover conventions and the media language techniques you have used to communicate with your audience (e.g. mise-en-scene, camera shot etc.)

My strengths are good camera shots and lighting
My weakness is the fact i didn't pre-plan which lead to me missing small key details like "glamour.com" on the magazine

4) Look at the mark scheme again. What can you do to move your mark higher and, if required, move up a level?

"Good application of knowledge and understanding of media language, demonstrated by frequently appropriate and effective selection and combination of elements to communicate clear meanings through the product".

5) What would be one piece of advice you would give a student about to start the same magazine cover project you have just completed?

Dont leave things to last minute, take your time and plan things to avoid missing small key details.
